Qualys releases innovative extension to Cloud Agent Platform

Qualys, a pioneer and leading provider of cloud-based security and compliance solutions, has unveiled its new Cloud Agent Gateway (CAG), a major extension of its Cloud Agent Platform that drastically simplifies large-scale deployments across on-prem and hybrid cloud environments.

Qualys Cloud Agent Gateway (CAG) Service is a cluster of virtual appliances managed from the Qualys Cloud Platform to securely connect agents deployed anywhere, including OT environments and restricted on-premises networks, to the Qualys Cloud Platform.

Customers can securely connect Cloud Agent traffic to a CAG virtual appliance located within restricted or sensitive on-premises networks, enabling the extension of Cloud Agent deployments into sensitive environments like DMZs in highly locked down data centres and industrial networks where direct Internet access is restricted.

With its innovative architecture, CAG also drastically reduces the bandwidth demands of large-scale Cloud Agent deployments or deploying agents across smaller networks such as branch offices. By caching updates, manifests and patches for distribution to Cloud Agents, customers can avoid the cost and complexity of using a commercial Secure Web Gateway to do so and utilise the benefits and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of Qualys cloud-delivered security solutions.

“Nomura’s upcoming global deployment of Qualys CAG will make it possible for us to use the Qualys Cloud Agent deployment on both our sensitive corporate servers and those servers within our DMZ, which are disconnected from Internet access, and to save bandwidth across branch offices,” said Afzal Mohamed – VP Head InfoSec at Nomura India.

“We also look forward to CAG simplifying adoption of Qualys Patch Management in the near future.”

“Today’s digital business requires that organisations achieve continuous security and compliance visibility that scales across all environments without disrupting the larger business,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO, Qualys, Inc.

“Qualys Cloud Agent Gateway enables our customers to do so by extending Cloud Agent deployments across operational and restricted parts of their networks and with drastically reduced bandwidth usage and costs.”

The release of new CAG enables customers to:

  • Secure connectivity of Cloud Agents on assets in restricted networks to the Qualys Cloud Platform without need to open access for each asset to the platform
  • Eliminate the deployment, management and maintenance of third-party proxies or secure web gateways for Cloud Agent installations at scale
  • Optimise the bandwidth utilised by large Cloud Agent deployments

CAG streamlines patch deployment with Qualys Patch Management (PM)

The recently introduced Qualys PM Cloud App leverages the powerful Cloud Agents to deliver operating system and over 300 third-party application patches on critical IT assets across on-prem, cloud and endpoint infrastructure. CAG enables extremely fast delivery of these patches to these assets in their environment by caching the downloaded patches and locally delivering them to the assets in the local network.
