Data Centre Fundamentals Program

Duration: One day live instructor-led remote attendance or eight hours distance learning fully video narrated

The entry-level program has been created to introduce people to the industry and to help demystify the world of data centres. The Data Centre Fundamentals program covers key areas, including an introduction into the data centre industry, the current market and trends as well as understanding the importance and different types of data centres. Key aspects relating to basic design and design philosophies are also examined as well as the essential considerations of data centre management. The data centre sector as a whole is also explained, including the value of the sector today, the significant growth it has experienced to date and how this will continue in the future.

Certified Data Centre Technician Professional (CDCTP) 

Duration: Five days 

Qualification: BTEC Level 4 professional award

Certification: Official CDCTP certification, post nominal title and a digital badge

The Certified Data Centre Technician Professional (CDCTP) explores a wide-range of subjects relevant to the data centre technician, including a detailed breakdown of the data centre operating environments and the four key constraints to its operational effectiveness (power, cooling, IT and space), the necessary operational policies, procedures and compliance based on legislation, standards (national and international) and codes of conduct. Also, during the program, learners will be provided with a valuable opportunity to access the latest industry standards.

The five-day CDCTP program provides learners with the skills so they can foresee potential causes of failure honing an in-depth understanding of facility components and their operating parameters. In addition, technicians can identify, analyse and remedy problems as they occur, quickly, decisively and accurately, avoiding potential high-cost repairs and the risks associated with loss of service.

Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP)

The Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP) is a five-day program proven to be an essential certification for individuals wishing to demonstrate their technical knowledge of data centre architecture and component operating conditions. The program teaches best practice principles for the design, construction and operation of computer rooms and data centre operational support facilities. It also addresses the importance of accurate interpretation of detailed customer requirements at the planning stage to ensure that the business needs remain focal to all decision-making.

The Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP) is a comprehensive five-day program that explores and addresses the complex area of managing environments within a data centre facility. The program is designed for individuals wishing to enhance their ability to strategically manage, control and improve the operational effectiveness of a data centre environment.  

During the program, learners gain unparalleled knowledge, skills and competency to manage the complex technical environments of a data centre facility and the ability to optimise its effectiveness by driving efficiencies. Learners are taught how to create a credible business strategy and apply strong leadership to maximise the operational capability of the data centre while continuing to meet the ongoing demands of the business. 

Certified Data Centre Energy Professional (CDCEP)

Duration: Five days

Qualification: BTEC Level 5 professional diploma

The Certified Data Centre Energy Professional (CDCEP) teaches the learner how to create an energy efficiency plan for a data centre. The program looks into the creation, implementation, analysis and formulating recommendations with the ultimate objective of reducing energy use and cutting carbon emissions with a data centre. 

The five-day program teaches the learner how to strategically plan, design and implement an energy plan for a data centre facility, focusing on energy efficiency. Learners are introduced to current energy profiler tools and models to analyse site data and formulate a comprehensive action plan to implement real energy savings potential and capacity reclamation. The use and distribution of power and how usage can quickly spiral out of control when it’s not being measured, monitored and maintained correctly is also explored. The program also makes the learner consider the use of redundant and backup power utilisation for air conditioning, fire suppression, security, alarms and other supporting systems.

Certified Data Centre Audit Professional (CDCAP)

Duration: Five days 

Qualification: BTEC Level 5 professional certificate

The Certified Data Centre Audit Professional (CDCAP) program teaches learners the knowledge and ability to plan and implement a program of data centre audits in line with the very latest industry requirements and standards to improve efficiency within the four key constrains of data centre environments. 

The program teaches the importance of acquiring detailed and accurate information concerning the operational capability of the data centre facilities. Learners are introduced to the requirement to measure continually, monitor and collate data to identify the potential areas of risk and the need to make recommendations to improve the availability, resilience and efficiency of a data centre.

Certified Data Centre Sustainability Professional (CDCSP)

Duration: Five days

Qualification: BTEC Level 5 award

The Certified Data Centre Sustainability Professional (CDCSP) program teaches how to create and implement a sustainability strategy for mission critical facilities. The comprehensive program provides in-depth knowledge into the steps required to evaluate, analyse, plan, implement and monitor a sustainability strategy balanced with operational capability for data centre facilities.

The CDCSP is designed to utilise existing data centre knowledge, skills and experience, and combine it with a greater understanding centred around technical collaboration and innovative approaches targeting sustainability within a data centre facility and the creation and implementation of a long-term sustainability strategy to support the business.

Masters Degree in Data Centre Leadership and Management

Duration: Three years distance learning

Qualification: Level 7 qualification – Masters degree in data centre leadership and management (MA)
