ZB8 Infra, formerly 3Red8, has announced its evolution from a fibre optic transport network to a national digital infrastructure solution, marking a new era in data democratisation and innovation, prioritising redundancy and diversity for hyperscalers, data centres, government operators and ISPs seeking secure, direct connections for critical infrastructure and data transport.

ZB8 is committed to revolutionising connectivity and bridging the digital divide to underserved communities through its next-generation digital infrastructure.

The company is building a robust data backbone across America, ensuring speed, security, reliability and high capacity, focusing on incorporating the latest fibre technology.

Construction on ZB8’s inaugural strategic route from Ashburn to Virginia Beach will begin in the summer of 2024, with plans for further extension connection to Los Angeles through an innovative figure eight data mesh network for data transport, distribution, development and Edge connectivity.

“Our approach is driving a new era of digital infrastructure through middle-mile and last-mile networks, bridging the digital divide and empowering communities with improved connectivity,” said Mark Adams, Chief Development Officer at ZB8 Infra. “ZB8 eliminates route conflicts by providing diverse, direct fibre routes on a single network without overlap, streamlining point-to-point layer one connectivity for hyperscalers, data centres, government operators and ISPs.”

Its network is designed based on a connectivity stack of dark fibre, next-generation capacity, location-dense connective points, Edge data centres, cable landing stations and spectrum capacity at launch. This stack enables AI, aggregation points, AV/EV, renewable energy-Smart Grid technology and Test Access Points (TAPS) for rural and underserved communities.
