FNT Software – a leading provider of software solutions for the integrated management of IT, data centre and telecommunication infrastructures worldwide – has announced it is building upon its partnership with DC Smarter through a collaboration with the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, Germany.
In the OpenLab of the Green IT Cube on the GSI/FAIR campus, the functions of the joint solution from FNT and DC Smarter are evaluated under live operating conditions to gain valuable insights into energy and operational efficiency.
The integrated solution from FNT and DC Smarter provides all the components and connections of the data centre infrastructure in the form of a Digital Twin. The FNT Command platform forms the data basis and enables intuitive, interactive access and inventory management of the entire data centre in real time. Augmented Reality (AR) technology, integrated by DC Vision, provides on-site technical teams with comprehensive transparency regarding resources and operating processes.

GSI has utilised FNT Command to map all assets and connections of the Green IT Cube within a Digital Twin. By integrating DC Smarter’s AR technology, the Digital Twin now also serves as the basis for further research and development of strategies for increasing efficiency in the data centre sector. The combined solution from DC Smarter and FNT optimises important data centre tasks such as remote hands services, documentation management and visual inspections within the Green IT Cube OpenLab.
Initial research results show that the joint solution from FNT Software and DC Smarter significantly improves operational efficiency through real-time data access and inventory management. Managers can make proactive, data-driven decisions and identify problems at an early stage, which offers the potential to reduce downtime and the likelihood of errors.
The solution also provides greater transparency, enabling operators to utilise energy resources optimally and sustainably, which promotes lower energy consumption overall.
