AtlasEdge, a leading European data centre provider, has announced the signing of an agreement with AFR-IX Telecom, an infrastructure and licensed telecommunication operator, to provide a new Point of Presence (POP) that will connect AtlasEdge’s Barcelona BCN001° data centre with the AFR-IX Telecom-owned Barcelona Cable Landing Station (CLS).
Connected to multiple international submarine cables, the Barcelona CLS serves as a key hub between the Mediterranean basin and the Atlantic. Integration with the hub via this new POP will see BCN001° become a critical node in the connectivity ecosystem.
The partnership will provide high-bandwidth and low-latency connectivity, crucial for data-intensive applications and services, and significantly enhance the resilience and redundancy of AtlasEdge’s network, ensuring continuous service even in case of route failures.
The collaboration also opens new routes for AtlasEdge’s customers with subsea connectivity to key hubs in the Mediterranean Sea, including direct connectivity to Marseille.
In addition to its Barcelona BCN001 and Madrid MAD001 sites, AtlasEdge is developing a second Barcelona data centre and a 100% renewable data centre campus in Lisbon. The latter is part of an ambitious growth strategy that will see the company invest more than €500 million in Portugal.
