Worley has secured three engineering services contracts from Burr Computer Environments, Inc. (BCEI) to support energy centre projects designed to power expanding data centre campuses across the United States.
The agreements will see Worley provide engineering, detailed design and procurement support for energy infrastructure incorporating behind-the-meter generation, as operators seek reliable power capacity for increasingly demanding computing workloads.
Once completed, the energy centres will combine gas turbines, aeroderivative turbines and reciprocating engines with battery energy storage systems and intra-campus electrical distribution infrastructure.
The projects highlight the growing focus on dedicated power infrastructure as data centre developers respond to rising electricity requirements driven by Artificial Intelligence, cloud services and high-performance computing.
Worley said the contracts align with its strategy to expand into future-facing growth markets that are important to economic resilience, while leveraging its existing capabilities in complex energy systems.
Engineering work will be delivered through Worley’s Houston, Charleston, West Virginia and Reading offices in the United States, supported by the company’s Global Integrated Delivery team.
Chris Ashton, CEO, Worley, said the projects represent a significant programme of energy infrastructure supporting major US data centre developments.
“Together, these projects represent a significant program of energy infrastructure supporting the growth of major data center developments in the United States,” he said.
Ashton added that demand for reliable power solutions is increasing alongside power-intensive workloads, supporting Worley’s strategy to grow its presence across both power and data centre infrastructure markets as operators seek additional capacity to support continued digital expansion.
