Kyndryl, a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, has announced an extended agreement for five years with Forsikringens Datacenter A/S (FDC), one of Scandinavia’s leading Software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers for the insurance and pension sector to future-proof its core mainframe infrastructure.
FDC serves over four million customer policies for insurers and pension funds across Denmark, Norway and Sweden, primarily through its F2100 platform. The platform is a central pillar of the Nordic financial and insurance infrastructure.
“In today’s fast-moving digital world, our goal is to provide IT services that are modern yet secure, scalable,” said Michael Knudsen, CEO, FDC. “We engaged Kyndryl to help drive our modernisation efforts, based on their in-depth knowledge of mainframe environments and cloud integration. Our aim is to enhance integration between our mainframe workloads and cloud-native technologies, enabling greater innovation and better service to our customers.”
Under the new contract, Kyndryl will migrate and upgrade FDC’s existing mainframe estate to Kyndryl’s state-of-the-art Twins Data Center in Belgium. The transformation will also include a shift to Kyndryl’s zCloud platform, enabling greater agility, enhanced security and improved cloud integration for FDC’s mission-critical workloads, without disrupting ongoing operations.
“The agreement with FDC reflects the momentum we are seeing across the Nordics, where enterprises invest in resilient and agile mainframe modernisation strategies to support business transformation and growth,” said Beda Grahn, Managing Director, Kyndryl Nordics and Baltics. “The new engagement with FDC helps the company to evolve its IT environment into a more modern and cloud-friendly IT infrastructure.”
Kyndryl is recognised as a global leader in mainframe services and solutions with extensive market presence and mainframe expertise. This leadership aligns with a broader industry shift, as organizations with core legacy systems are seeking cost efficiency as well as enhanced flexibility, innovation and competitiveness in an increasingly digital and regulated world.
The extension of Kyndryl’s collaboration with FDC builds on a growing wave of mainframe modernisation efforts across the Nordic region. The company recently signed similar strategic deals with organisations such as Nuuday and Storebrand, reinforcing Kyndryl’s role as a trusted partner in mainframe and infrastructure transformation.
